Trip to Shanghai - Day 3

We are now on our 3rd day and our luggage has arrived! Yayy! But Kim is down with a flu, poor thing.. so he's all wrapped up in his sweater like a cocoon.

We are off to the West Lake, also popularly known as Xi Hu TianDi - a picturesque interfusion of hills and water. I guess words just does not do it justice..:). The whole place was packed with tourist and locals alike - all enjoying the view or just bringing the family out for some fun and fresh air! Well, we even had a chance to go for a boat ride during the tour.. :D. Chilly but nice.. :)

Xiao Zhong was telling us the tragic romance story of (梁山伯與祝英台: Liáng Shānbó yǔ Zhù Yīngtái), well, translated as the Butterfly Lovers. The legend is sometimes regarded as the Chinese equivalent to Romeo n Juliet. He's really great, he can even read out a poetry from the back of his mind!

Our next destination, we visited the tea plantation; Longjing tea (simplified Chinese: 龙井茶; traditional Chinese: 龍井茶; pinyin: lóngjǐngchá) is a famous variety of green tea from Hangzhou. The demo was so impressive that most of us had been tempted to purchase - it had cost us 900 yuan (rm450) for just 600g of tea. Come to think of it, it is very expensive!

By lunch time, all of us had been thoroughly educated on the benefits of LongJing tea. Haha.

Next, we visited the villa of Hu Xue Yan - a man with 14 concubines (if I remember correctly.. :) ..) Well, nothing much there unless you are interested in gardens and sculptures.

The next stop is Xi Hu again.. :) .. My favourite spot during this tour. We experienced the difference in view during the day and evening. In the evening, it is simply magnificent!

After dinner, we headed for a live show - exhibiting the romance story of Liang Zhu and the Qian Shou GuanYin; Thousand hands Goddess)

Ah finally, time for bed! Such a tiring day.. :) .. But well worth every minute of it .. :) ..

Trip to Shanghai - Day 2

After 5 hours, we finally reach our destination! Pudong International Airport.

But to our dismay, our luggage had been delayed. Boohooohoo..:(. We waited and waited and waited. (I must say, very patiently) To make the story short, we kind of reported it to the Airlines and they promised to deliver the luggage by night fall. Ah well, I guess thinking positively, we are gonna be getting personal porter service, while all the others are busy lugging their luggage around.. :D

We met Xiao Zhong, our local guide. Nice, petite lil' chap and he brought us for breakfast and we went off to our first destination: Nanjing Road, Shanghai.

It's supposedly to be the busiest road in Shanghai, a must-see metropolitan destination attracting thousands of fashion-seeking shoppers from all over the world.

And we moved on to our next tourist destination: XiTang Water Village,
about 90 minutes to drive down from Shanghai. This quaint water village is achingly photogenic, guess that's the reason they filmed Mission: Impossible III here. :).

Next stop, our hotel room in Hangzhou.
** Gosh, lugggage has yet to arrive..:(

Trip to Shanghai - Day 1

The time is NOW!

I must have packed and unloaded them for like umpteenth times, but finally we are ready to go by 2100..:D.. Flight will be leaving at 2330, and that marks the first day of our trip!

However, being me, I was asleep by the time we board our plane, so not much pictures taken..:)

The flight was nothing to shout about, we took China Eastern Airlines. Well, it quite uncomfortable actually. The seats were too hard and I guess it's very much space constrained. So by the time we reached, most of us were having backaches..:)

But as we were greeted by the morning sun as we woke up, the view was pretty spectacular from the plane.

Trip to Shanghai

Had meant to update earlier on my trip, but with all the unpacking and also the number of times StreamyX being down, had made it quite hard. Haha, well, laziness does play a part in the delay as well..:)..

Anyway, I just came back from a trip in Shanghai, China - 8D6N. We left very late at night on 9-Nov and reached at vee hours on 16-Nov. Very interesting actually, with the fun people in the tour, and we gave them names to help us remember them better - The Couple and Co, The Bachelorettes, The Company, The Vegetarian and also the The Family. Not forgetting our wonderfully interesting Tour Guides - Xiao Zhong and Joe..:).

Will be updating again with more information on the trip itself.

Granpa's Birthday.. :D

Yoohooo! My granpa just celebrated his 91st birthday during the weekend. Had a family gathering and had buffet lunch and met many of the family members. I guess the last time I really saw all of them was like during CNY. There were like, sooo many kids running around.. phew! Here's some pics taken on that day.

I've uploaded more pics on Slide. :)

Trip back to Malacca

During the last weekend, we made a trip back to Malacca..:D..

Went back for some yummy nyonya satay, near Klebang at a lil' restaurant used to be known as Happy Restaurant. The meat was succulent and soft, and the dipping sauce tastes so good... :) .. yummy!

Here's some pictures that we took of the satay..

Anyway, we then went for a walk in Jonker Street. Wahh sehh ... after not being back in Malacca for so long, the place changed so much! There seems to be so many people walking around and so many stalls selling cutesy stuff .. :p... Kim had to keep pulling me from the stalls to stop me from buying those stuff.. hehee ... but they all look so cute..:) ... fortunately for him, I only had rm10 bucks in my pockets.

This is how the place look like from the entrance.

Anyway, the next day we went for Ice Cream near my house at a place called Sunday Ice Cafe. Heheee.. it actually opens every single day and I ordered my favorite dessert, Surprise Finding of Treasure!
